The Access Board issued updated accessibility guidelines for new or altered facilities covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA). In September 2004, the Justice Department (DOJ) issued an advance notice concerning its update of the ADA standards. These guidelines are effective under the Architectural Barriers Act for Postal facilities (October 1, 2005) and other Federal facilities (excluding Military, and Residential) on May 8, 2006.
