The ADA & IT Technical Assistance Centers distribute general information and technical materials to expand knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Other resources such as training and teaching tools can help expand understanding of and compliance with disability laws. For a customized training event for your organization, click on your state to contact your regional Center. Other learning opportunities include:

  • ADA Basic Building Blocks – Over 1,600 people have taken this introductory web course on the Americans with Disabilities Act. The course explores the legal requirements and the spirit of the ADA. The course content is self-paced and organized into 12 topics. Upon completion of the course, you may be eligible to earn a certificate and one CEU if you meet all established criteria. The course is free, however there is a $50. CEU fee that must be paid to receive continuing education credit. To access the course, log on to http://www.adabasics.org
  • At Your Service: Welcoming Customers with Disabilities at Your One Stop Center – this FREE self-paced tutorial is available online to anyone, at any time by logging into www.wiawebcourse.org To date, over 8,700 people have taken this course to rave reviews!
  • The ADA Game – Help build virtual accessible communities by playing the Southeast DBTAC’s ADA Game. The ADA Game simulates how advocacy can promote positive changes in communities. To date, over 1,800 people from four countries are playing and the city of Nashville is fast becoming the most accessible virtual community in the US! Join in the discussions and work together to improve compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act in your community of choice. Areas of play include: program access, public accommodations, transportation, employment and communication. Log on to www.adagame.org to see what you can learn and what you can contribute!
  • The ADA Audio Conferencing Series – this series of audio conferences keeps you up to date on developments in the ADA as a result of court decisions, provides tips on best practices and an opportunity to ask questions of experts in the field. The series is designed with tracks for employers, architects, educators and those whose interest is more general.   • K-12 Breaking Down Barriers – An introduction to the next level of accessibility – that of electronic and information technology. This FREE packet is available to educators and is designed to help prevent and eliminate barriers to education caused by technology which is not accessible to users with various disabilities.
